In his career years with NNPC, Engr. Mohammed has held key management positions including; Managing Director, Nigerian Gas Company, MD Kaduna Refinery & Petrochemicals Co before his appointment as Group Executive Director / COO of Gas & Power Business Unit of NNPC.
Engr. Mohammed served as either Chairman or Member of Boards of various companies including; NLNG Limited, West African Gas Pipeline Company, Asa North Gas Processing Company, NNPC Retail West Africa Gas Limited and N-Gas (Bermuda).
Engr. Mohammed also served as President, Nigerian Gas Association (2012 – 2014), National President, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (2021 – 2023) and Executive Board Member representing Nigeria on the Board of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (2020 – 2023). In addition to his GasXperts responsibilities, Engr. Mohammed currently serves as a non-executive Director on the Board of Asharami Energy Limited (a Sahara Group Upstream Company).
Retired from NNPC after 28yrears of service in July 2019. He retired as GED/COO Upstream Business Unit of the NNPC.
Prior to his appointment as GED/COO Upstream, Dr. Rabiu held dual positions of GM Corporate Planning & Strategy and STA to Group Managing Director of NNPC. As GED Upstream, Dr Rabiu was responsible for overseeing the activities of the then NAPIMS, IDSL, Nigeria Engineering & Technical Company (NETCO) and Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC).
Dr. Rabiu played a very significant role in the development of Nigeria Gas Master Plan and in the implementation of 7 Critical Gas Development Projects, a collaborative effort with Upstream gas producers to enable delivery of natural gas in to the domestic market.
Dr. Rabiu is currently serving as Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Seplat Energy Plc.
